Bima (Sanskrit: भीम, Bhima) or Bimasena (Sanskrit: भीमसेन, Bhimasena) is a protagonist in wiracaritaMahabharata. He is regarded as a heroic figure. He is the son of Kunti and known as the Pandavas strong character, is always rude and intimidating to the enemy, even though his heart soft. He is the Pandavas in the second sequence, of five children. Se'ayah' his brother was the famous Wanara in epics Ramayana and often called by the name of Hanuman. The meaning of the name

Birth

Youth

Then his body was tied tightly by Duryodhana by using creeper, after it washed away into the river Ganges with rafts. When the raft which carries the Bima up in the middle of the river, snakes that live around the river peck Bima body. Miraculously, the snake venom antidote for the poison turned into edible Bima. When realized, the Bima immediately untied creeper wrapped around his body, then he kills snakes bite her. Some snakes fled to meet the king, that Antaboga.
When Antaboga heard that the son of Pandu who named Bima had killed his son, he immediately welcomed Bima and gave him a drink divine. Education

Events in Waranawata
When Bima and his mother and his brothers were on vacation in Waranawata, he and Yudistira aware that the inn is provided to them, have been designed to kill them and their mother. Then, the Bima start burning candles left their homes. Therefore mother and siblings feel sleepy and tired, Bima take them all at once with devastating strength. Kunti strapped to her back, Nakula and Sadewa was on her thigh, sedangkanYudistira and Arjuna was in his arms.
When out of the end of the tunnel, Bima and his brother arrived at the river Ganges. There they were escorted across the river by messenger Vidura, the minister of the alarming state of their Hastinapur. After crossing the river Ganges, they pass Sidawata to Hidimbawana. In the journey, the Bima bear all his brothers and his mother over a distance of approximately seventy-two miles.
Events in Hidimbawana
In Hidimbawana, Bima met with Hidimbi / Arimbi who fell in love with it. Hidimbi sister named Hidimba, became angry because Hidimbi have fallen in love with someone who is supposed to be their meal. Then Bima and Hidimba fight. In the fight, the Bima won the battle and killed Hidimba with his own hands. Then, the Bima married with Hidimbi. Of their marriage, was born a son named Ghatotkacha. Bima and his family lived for several months along with Hidimbi and Ghatotkacha, after which they proceeded. Bima also have children of Draupadi called Sutasoma, while children from his marriage to Princess Balandhara of the Kingdom of Kashi is Sarwaga. All children Bima fall in Kurukshetra War.
Giant killer Baka
After passing Hidimbawana, Bima and his brothers and his mother arrived in the town of Ekacakra. There they were staying in a brahmin family home. On a day when the Bima and his mother was alone, while four other Pandavas went begging, brahmin homeowner told them that a giant called Bakasura terrorizing Ekacakra city. Upon the request of the villagers, the giant stop bothering the city, but instead the entire population of the city are required to offer good food and a person each week. Now, brahmin families who provide shelter for those who turn to dedicate one of his siblings. Feel indebted to the kindness of the brahmin family, Kunti said that he would submit the Bima which will kill the giant Baka. Yudhisthira initially doubted, but finally he agreed.
On the appointed day, the Bima bring food into the cave Bakasura carload. There he spent the foods that should be dedicated to the giant. After that, the Bima calling for a duel with the giant. Bakasura who feel insulted, angry and hit the Bima. Instantly there was a fierce fight. After a long battle, the Bima crush Bakasura body like cutting a piece of sugar cane. Then he dragged the body to the gate Bakasura Ekacakra. By means of Bima, Ekacakra town calmed down. He stayed there for some time, until finally the Pandavas decided to go to Kampilya, the capital of the Kingdom of Panchala, because on the story of Draupadi of a Brahmin.
Bima in Bhāratayuddha

Bima in Javanese wayang

- Goddess Urangayu, berputera Arya Anantasena.
